Read with interest. The material was very helpful. I've got a report due 1/6 on forensic ballistics. Also used the link to Zeno's and afte...that Sound of Bullets article was very interesting. I remember the sounds of the "butts" in USMC bootcamp...7.62 M14's. Thanks.

The scientific information on your site is exceptional. As with anything else, science can be dealt a disservice when mixed with personal opinion. I have been a student and practitioner of firearms related study and investigation for a good many years. Your site is a welcome and well put together resource that has once again proven to me that regardless of how much we know or how long we are involved in something there is always more to learn. Thank you for putting this site together and for putting it into language that can be easily understood by those unfamiliar with firearms in general. Overall the scientific aspects of your site deserve a thumbs up.

I had to do a project on firearms/forensics for my Grade 12 law course and knew very little about guns to begin with. Your site was by far the most informative and the language was simple enough that even someone like myself, with virtually no previous knowledge of firearms, could understand what you were describing. Excellent, informative site

Jeffery , Thanks for your comprehensive website on forensic firearms identification. I'm working on a research paper regarding the question of ballistic fingerprinting and law enforcement. I started out with the idea to ask the question regarding toolmark analysis and the Second Amendment/is it really an infringement of one's rights (?)... but found your information and subsequent findings too interesting and wanted to focus solely on this aspect of the topic. I will delve into this other area in the next paper. What is your opinion regarding the view of the NRA? Thanks again, Jan Edwards

CORRECTION OF MY LAST POSTING --on pistol ID. The pistol IS Spanish , not Belgian as I mentioned in my last post. It's a 7.65mm(32ACP) Auto pistol Manufactured by:GARATE ANITUA of Eibar Spain. Still dont understand the 'Fabrique D' Armes de Guerre' as (I THOUGHT?) that was only on Belgian Fabrique Nationale Firearms. Cheers & Beers from Down Under.

Very informative site, I have but one comment. On the Image Gallery under the heading 'Firearms'.The third Auto .32ACP pistol of unknown model says: Fabrique D'Armes de Guerre. I think(note: think) that that marking is of a Belgian Fabrique Nationale'manufacture. Not Spanish. I will find the model and post it.

The concept behind a guestbook is to offer suggestions for the webmaster. Comments that are both positive and negative are always appreciated when presented with merit. Your views that guns kill people are quite wrong. A gun is nothing more than an inanimate object. Guns do not kill people, people do. This site is an exceptional teaching aid and should be valued as such. Ignorance is avoidable. Before making further unfounded statements, try researching your point of view. Charles Fanning

As a retired Detective from a Metropolitan area near my home I often used the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation, Crime Lab. This site would make a fine training aid for officers transferring from Patrol to Investigations. Not only that but I found it a refreshingly well written piece that helps to bridge the gap that unfortunately sometimes develops between field investigators and Criminalologists. The report on the ongoing study in S.A. is of great interest and could be well supplemented with some autopsies. Overall, a job well done.

I thought this was a very good presentation of the basics of firearms analysis (GSR especially). I am a forensic science student and this site gave me the basics for one of my final projects. Thank you.

I have just visited for the first time. Very nice, I am impressed. I downloaded your trigger pull data, but I have not looked at it. I will comment on it at a later date. Thank You Bill
