Ballistic Gelatin Resource Page

What the heck is it??  Well, used by the shooting industry to simulate soft body tissue, Ballistic Gelatin provides an alternative to live animal or cadaver testing.

Law Enforcement and the "bullet designers" are constantly testing products to see how well they will perform in real life shooting situations.  By studying how a bullet performs when it strikes a block of gelatin information about bullet expansion, penetration depth, fragmentation, and wound cavity can be observed.

A number of excellent resources are available both online and in print/film that cover the details related to the preparation, use and testing of gelatin and some alternatives.  Several resources that provide in-depth information into the use of Ballistic Gelatin can be found below.

Deadly Effects

From the Video "Deadly Effects", we have the pleasure to show our guests this chapter titled "Ballistic Gelatin and Duxseal: A Comparison of Tissue Simulants".  First released in 1967 by Anite Productions, this is the last chapter from the 85 minute video.  Runtime for this chapter is approximately 12 minutes.  The quality of the flash movie below has been reduced to allow it to be streamed over the internet and is not indicative of the quality of the actual movie.
